So, of course I was tasked with informing everyone about this decorating debaucle. Herewith is the note I sent out this morning:
Team,
To celebrate our holiday spirit this year, you are invited to decorate your workspace (I refuse to say ‘cube’) or your office and/or door in a festive holiday way.
The theme is “ChristmaHanukKwanzikaSolstice around the World”
This is NOT a contest, but I’m sure with so much talent we have in our department, the decorations should be intense. There are no rules or regulations – just nothing flammable, please.
Enjoy!

[And for giggles, I enlosed the following picture at the end of the email.]
So, just at fate would have it, there is ALWAYS one overly politically correct, uber safety person who has to put their 2 cents in where common sense is abound. The safety director, who has recently moved into our department, responds with the following email:Team,
Hate to be the downer safety guy, but here are a few guidelines for office holiday displays:
If lights or other electrical items are used in the displays, plain extension cords are not allowed by code. If an extension is needed please use an outlet strip that has a built in circuit breaker, or plug into your surge protector if it has an available outlet. Be sure cords are routed so as not to present a trip hazard.
If decorating an office door, module walls, etc., be aware of protruding items, especially at eye level.
Some of the more elaborate displays I’ve seen have presented tripping hazards for people coming around a corner and encountering something that is not normally there.
Thanks for listening.
Jim
Why don't I just bring in a snowglobe and put it on my desk. I guess the worst that could happen is that it breaks, and floods the entire department. I wanna celebrate Christmas, and if that means firecrackers setting off at my desk or the Menorah candles accidentally setting the lobby Christmas Tree on fire, then so be. Now THAT'S a celebration!
BWHAHAHAHHAHA!

Oh God. Fuck Corey, I was laughing my head off. Thank you, that was the best laugh I have had in ages.
Blog post of the week for sure.
You are the best and I seriously am crazy for you.
I first burst out laughing at valentines and then kept reading and never stopped until I got to Jim's comment and was like 'what a loser.' And then I got to common sense abound and laughed again.
You are brilliant.
xoxo
LOLOL. Love the snowglobe comment! That's what you should do!
